Help with EE WiFi
Yes. BT Wi-Fi is becoming EE WiFi. We will continue to be the UK's largest WiFi hotspot network and continue to offer the same access and services.
Over a short period of time, the network address (SSID) we broadcast will change from BTWi-Fi to EE WiFi. To connect, you will need to use your device settings to detect available wireless networks and select the "EE WiFi" network. For a short period of time you may continue to see the existing BT Wi-Fi landing page, however, this will also change to reflect the new EE WiFi service.
Existing BT Broadband and new EE Broadband customers will enjoy unlimited free access to the EE WiFi network.
Non-BT Broadband and non-EE Broadband customers can continue to use the network by purchasing a new EE WiFi Voucher. If you have previously held a BT Wi-Fi account, we'll transfer your account details to EE so you can continue to use the same log-in details, however, you will need to re-enter any payment card details ahead of your first purchase. For information on how EE uses your personal data please see EE's privacy policy. Any pre-purchased, but unused, BT Wi-Fi vouchers will continue to work on the EE WiFi service, however, all subsequent purchases will be EE WiFi vouchers.
You can buy a voucher for short-term access here.
Alternatively, new EE Broadband and BT Broadband customers receive unlimited free access to the EE WiFi network.
New EE Broadband and BT Broadband customers can find out more information about using EE WiFi elsewhere in this help section.
First, connect to the EE WiFi network.
A EE WiFi SSID (network name) will appear in your device's available wireless networks list when you're in range of a hotspot. You can find your nearest hotspot here.
On your mobile device:
- Select the Settings icon on your device
- Select WiFi (or Wireless & Networks) from the Settings menu
- Make sure WiFi is turned on
- From the list of available networks choose EE WiFi
- Once connected, you are on the EE WiFi network
On your desktop: click the wireless icon at the bottom right of the screen and select EE WiFi from the drop-down menu.
Secondly, once connected to the EE WiFi network, you're ready to login to your closest EE WiFi hotspot and start using the internet. To login to a hotspot:
- Once you join the EE WiFi network (steps above), a browser window will appear. If it doesn't, open your browser and type 'https://test-ee-wifi.ee.co.uk/public/ee' into your browser's address bar.
-
If you're an existing customer with an access account click the 'log in now' button and you'll be presented with 4 options in the drop down menu.
- EE Broadband account — Use this if you are a new EE Broadband customer
- EE WiFi Voucher account — Use this if you're an existing EE WiFi voucher customer
- BT Broadband account — Use this if you're an existing BT Broadband customer
- BT Business Broadband account — Use this if you're an existing BT Business Broadband customer
If you're not already one of these customers, you have the option to purchase one of our voucher products.

You are now online and can start browsing.
On desktop or tablet devices, a new web browser window may open confirming you're connected. Minimise, rather than close, the web browser window - now you're ready to browse the internet.
Most new EE Broadband and BT Broadband customers are automatically registered for EE WiFi, unless you've opted out. You can get online at an EE WiFi hotspot using your EE ID or BT ID and password.
BT Business Broadband customers can find answers to most questions about their free WiFi access here: How do I use BT Wi-Fi? | WiFi | BT Business (custhelp.com)

The first step to using any company network is to connect and login to your nearest EE WiFi hotspot as outlined above.
Once online, connecting to your company's network will depend on the specific IT set-up of your organisation. In some cases, you will not need to do anything further, but if your organisation operates a virtual private network (VPN), you will need to minimise your browser and launch the VPN to access your company network.
Please note: We're happy to help you connect to EE WiFi, but you'll need to talk to your company's IT people about your corporate VPN.
When you've finished: you should quit your VPN first and then log out of EE WiFi before closing your browser.
Note: You must log out correctly, otherwise your account will stay open and you'll have to pay charges for a further 15 minutes. Your account automatically shuts down due to inactivity after 15 minutes.
To help make sure you receive a safe, reliable and robust service, EE WiFi encrypts your account details at login. We also advise you make sure you have up to date firewall and anti-virus software to guard against any attacks and we strongly recommend you consider using a virtual private network (VPN), which protects your data from being intercepted. You'll find the option to disable cookies via your internet browser options. However please note that some websites may not support this function.
When connected to an EE WiFi hotspot, the speed you experience will depend on several factors. These include the device you're using, how many other people are connected, how far from an Access Point you are and also the network speed in the particular venue you are in. In all cases, the speed you experience should be suitable to complete most online functions.
No. WiFi is perfect for uploading or downloading large files at high speed. Use is based on time rather than data transfer amount. But please remember that if you're sending an email, your recipient's email account may limit the amount of data accepted. We suggest that you limit emails and attachments to 10MB. A Fair Use Policy may apply.
